Good morning dear readers,
In the psychological world, there is a phrase many of you may be familiar with: fight or flight.’ This is a built-in human response to a danger or threat. As a follower of Jesus and therefore someone who believes we were all created by God, I believe that God provided the intuitive ‘fight or flight’ response as a protective tool for us when we encounter a stressor or threat.
Modern society has added the response of ‘freeze’. This is neither protective nor from God. Rather, this is something that Satan has thrown into the mix to keep us stuck. He knows that if we are frozen or stuck, then we are not a threat to him. This response means we have allowed the threat to have authority over us, and therefore God no longer has authority over us. This allows Satan to move on to more credible threats.
If it has been weeks, months, or years since you have felt challenged, threatened, or attacked, then I suggest you take a step back and reevaluate your supposed relationship with Christ. Our Lord and Savior was attacked for years and then died a horrendous death. Of course, praise God, He rose again and is now at the right hand of His Father. All of His apostles were constantly in danger, and it is believed that all but one were martyred. It is believed that the one who was not martyred was excommunicated to an island because he survived their attempt to boil him to death. Please do not fall for the lies of Satan and the world that will tell you that when you are truly following Christ, and when you really have enough faith, you will be healthy, wealthy, and prosperous.
True followers of Christ are guaranteed one thing, and that is that God’s grace will be sufficient. Because God knows that His grace is the only thing that we truly need.
So, dear readers, if you find yourself frozen or stuck today, please know that it is not from God. Allow me to digress for one moment, though, being frozen and waiting are NOT the same thing. Being frozen is a fear response to a threat or stressor in your life. Waiting is a response of submission to God regarding a moment in your life when you are not sure which way to turn, and so you turn to the Lord.
Fight or flight are responses from God to protect us. Frozen is a response from Satan to keep us stuck. Where do you find yourself today? No matter where you are, please know you can always turn to God.
Shalom
